Cauldron
This is a homebrew game, run on Gameboy Color. Based on the original game by: Richard Leinfellner - Palace Software . Zx-Spectrum, 1985. Created with GB-Studio 2.0.0 beta5! Music by Victor Valdez (https://victorvaldez.itch.io/)
Harken witches everywhere, take the challenge - if you dare,
Tomorrow night, 'Tis Halloween, when only one shall be Witch Queen,
Six ingredients thou must take, and in the cauldron boil and bake,
Juice of toad, eye of newt, wing of bat, and hemlock root,
Mouldy piece of splintered bone, found from deep in musty tomb,
Molten lava, cooled awhile, taken from the smoking isle.
Then the spell shall be at hand, to rid the pumpkin from the land.
You play the part of the hag, and you must fly across the land searching for the keys to the underworld, avoiding bats, evil bouncing pumpkins, carnivorous plants and all manner of nasty creatures whilst you look. You must take off and land only on grassy clearings. Each coloured key opens only the same coloured door, and oce you have entered the realm beneath, you have to jump from platform to platform to pick up the required ingredient for the spell.

Very cool homebrew! Def a solid effort for a GBStudio project, but the original game played much, MUCH better.
Here, the witch feels super slow and heavy - it takes forever to get up to speed, and vertical directions barely respond at all! Since GBC has a much lower resolution than ZX Spectrum, the flip-screen format doesn't really work anymore, especially since the speed resets each time you enter a location.
Also, the landing pads work very hit-or-miss.
Hello 👋
Thank you for your comment, you are absolutely right. Unfortunately, many things cannot be solved with GBStudio 2.0, for example antigravity, in principle, only with engine modification, which allows this only in motion. But let's admit that this is an old, senile old witch who can't move quickly and is also unstable in landing. :)
Any chance Cauldron 2 is planned as a conversion? I'd like to explore the wildly popular pumpkin bouncing genre!
Hello. It would be nice to do it, but unfortunately I can't do it for GameboyStudio with version 2.0, so I have to skip this.
Thank you for even considering it. Your conversions are amazing!
I enjoyed this. The flying and shooting is kinda heavy and slow which suits the character of the old witch. It made me feel old.
You felt old because you are old! :) Try my transcription of the Egbert game and you'll think you're young! :) Thanks for the comment!
Haha, that’s true, old man, bad dad.
Wow! Nice and funny game!
Music fits great!
Thanks for using my tunes and for your support!
:)
I thank you, it wouldn't be like this without your music.
Another fun one,
Well, here I made the gameplay a little longer so that you don't have to play through it in 4 minutes. :) Thanks for!
Nice and interesting game... Too bad I don't understand the controls to for the browser option "A" and "B" didn't work... Also the game got me confused about what am I supposed to do... The game look nice thought.
Thank you very much for your comment. Unfortunately, due to the copy-paste, the A and B buttons remained in it, I fixed it. The point? According to them, you were not a witch in your previous life. :) Pick up the key to enter the doors and collect the ingredients and throw into the cauldron.
